Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma highlighted the state’s comprehensive growth strategy, aiming to boost traditional sectors like tea while advancing new industries such as technology and tourism. Sarma stressed the importance of equal attention to all sectors to drive economic progress at the grassroots level. The government’s vision, encapsulated in the slogan ‘Tea to Tech,’ focuses on creating ample opportunities within Assam to curb outward migration.
The BJP-led government in Assam has been actively positioning the state as a promising investment hub through various industrial and infrastructure projects. Efforts have been directed towards attracting investments in electronics, renewable energy, food processing, and information technology, in addition to strengthening the renowned tea industry. The state has also prioritized tourism development by enhancing religious, eco, and heritage sites, alongside improving transportation infrastructure.
Chief Minister Sarma has consistently emphasized Assam’s shift towards a more diverse economy, driven by policy reforms and business-friendly measures. The state’s initiatives aim to generate significant employment, foster entrepreneurship, and encourage local youth to pursue careers within Assam rather than seeking opportunities elsewhere. The transition from a predominantly agricultural economy to one driven by technology, innovation, and modern services is symbolized by the phrase “Tea to Tech.”
