Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently opened the Digital Design and 3D Printing Centre of Excellence in Guwahati. This center aims to boost the state’s manufacturing sector by fostering innovation and indigenous product development. The facility will offer advanced digital design, additive manufacturing, and rapid prototyping services to various industries.

Sarma highlighted that the center will support innovation in sectors like healthcare, aerospace, energy, and agriculture. It is expected to facilitate faster product design, testing, and development processes. The Chief Minister emphasized that this initiative will aid in the growth of Assam’s micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

Local entrepreneurs and startups will benefit from the center by creating innovative products within the state, reducing reliance on imported technologies. Sarma expressed that this move will not only accelerate new product development but also promote self-reliance by encouraging local solutions. The Chief Minister stressed the significance of technology-driven industrial growth in attracting investments and positioning Assam as a manufacturing and innovation hub in the Northeast.

The Digital Design and 3D Printing Centre of Excellence will provide access to cutting-edge design software, additive manufacturing technologies, and rapid prototyping facilities. This initiative aligns with the state government’s focus on fostering innovation-led entrepreneurship, strengthening the MSME sector, and supporting high-value manufacturing. The facility is expected to bridge the gap between research and industry, promote advanced manufacturing technologies, and contribute to Assam’s industrial diversification.
