Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has introduced the ‘VB-G RAM-G’ initiative statewide to boost rural employment and livelihoods. The program, officially initiated on Wednesday, aims to provide 125 days of employment, create lasting rural assets, and enhance income opportunities for villagers. Focusing on community-based development works, the scheme is anticipated to drive wage employment and foster long-term economic progress in rural Assam.
The ‘VB-G RAM-G’ initiative also aims to promote public involvement in developmental projects and enhance village infrastructure quality through labor-intensive activities. Villagers have been actively engaged in various public works like road construction, land development, and drainage improvement under the program, as depicted in photographs released by the Chief Minister’s Office. This initiative is envisioned to offer an additional income source for rural households and generate productive assets benefiting local communities.
Part of a broader strategy by the Assam government to expedite rural development and fortify village-level infrastructure, the rollout of VB-G RAM-G underscores the commitment to enhancing employment opportunities and socio-economic conditions in rural areas. The government will closely monitor the scheme’s implementation to ensure project timeliness and fund utilization efficiency. By combining employment generation with infrastructure development, the program is expected to foster sustainable rural growth and elevate living standards in villages throughout Assam.
Assam Chief Minister Sarma is optimistic that the ‘VB-G RAM-G’ initiative will not only create significant employment but also invigorate rural development in the state.
