Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed plans for a new flyover in Jorhat to alleviate congestion at the Baruah Chariali junction. The flyover will link Baruah Chariali to the Bhogdoi Bridge, aiming to improve traffic flow and connectivity in the town.
Sarma addressed the long-standing issue of traffic congestion at Baruah Chariali, acknowledging the challenges faced by residents, commuters, students, traders, and emergency services. The upcoming flyover is expected to provide significant relief by diverting heavy traffic away from the congested junction.
Despite opposition, including criticism from Lok Sabha member Gaurav Gogoi, the government remains committed to implementing the project for the public’s benefit. The flyover’s design focuses on redirecting through traffic, reducing travel time, and easing pressure on surface roads, ultimately benefiting thousands of daily commuters.
The project reflects the government’s broader efforts to enhance urban infrastructure in Assam, with similar initiatives underway in other towns. The flyover’s imminent opening marks a crucial step in Jorhat’s urban development, addressing a persistent civic issue that has plagued the town for years.
