Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, currently in Odisha seeking blessings from Lord Jagannath before campaigning in West Bengal, criticized Rahul Gandhi for questioning the transparency of his foreign trips. Sarma challenged Gandhi to reveal details of his own passport and foreign visits, offering to present his and his family’s passports to the press for scrutiny. He emphasized the importance of transparency for those making allegations.
Sarma also highlighted the Supreme Court’s decision to revoke the bail of Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera, emphasizing the impartiality of the legal system. Refuting allegations made by Congress and Khera about possessing multiple passports, Sarma dismissed them as part of a smear campaign based on manipulated documents. He expressed intent to take legal action against these claims.
In addition, Sarma praised Samrat Choudhary’s appointment as Bihar’s first BJP Chief Minister, underscoring the significance for the party and the NDA alliance. He advocated for the Women’s Reservation Bill in Parliament, urging bipartisan support for empowering women through adequate representation. Sarma called for Congress’ backing of the bill, suggesting electoral benefits in upcoming state elections.
