Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed certainty that the BJP would secure another term in the upcoming state Assembly elections. Sarma, after visiting a temple in Tripura, stated that based on the BJP government’s performance, he believes the party will win with a significant majority. He acknowledged the unpredictability of politics but emphasized the BJP’s strong position in Assam.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the election focus in Assam would center on development and identity issues. Sarma pointed out that the BJP had delivered on all promises from its previous manifesto. He also mentioned the successful employment of 1.60 lakh youths without any corruption under his government.
Sarma further mentioned the government’s efforts in reclaiming land from illegal Bangladeshi settlers and criticized West Bengal’s alleged laxity in curbing infiltration from Bangladesh. He noted that Assam and Tripura were actively combating illegal infiltration, contrasting it with what he perceived as a lack of action in West Bengal. Upon his arrival in Agartala, Sarma was welcomed by state BJP leaders and is expected to hold meetings with them.
