Sri Lanka Cricket has refuted claims of a financial crisis after the establishment of a Cricket Transformation Committee. The board clarified that the committee was appointed by the Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs under specific legal provisions. This appointment grants the committee authority over all aspects of Sri Lanka Cricket until a new Executive Committee is elected.
The board emphasized that reports alleging financial mismanagement post the committee’s appointment are inaccurate. Sri Lanka Cricket highlighted that the committee has full legal authority, as published in the Government Gazette, to manage the board’s financial and administrative matters. Under the Sports Law, the committee has complete control over the institution’s operations.
Despite ongoing administrative changes, Sri Lanka Cricket assured that its daily operations are unaffected. The board continues to fulfill all financial obligations and administrative functions without any disruptions. Payments to suppliers, employees, players, and other stakeholders are being made promptly, ensuring smooth operations.
Amid increased scrutiny over governance in Sri Lankan cricket, the formation of the Transformation Committee by the Sports Ministry has sparked discussions. Sri Lanka Cricket remains committed to its operational efficiency and financial responsibilities despite the evolving administrative landscape.
