Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma stated that the state government is actively overseeing the flood situation in Upper Assam to ensure prompt relief and rescue operations. A team of ministers is supervising rescue efforts in the flood-affected districts to coordinate relief measures efficiently with local authorities.
Sarma emphasized the government’s commitment to swiftly providing relief to those impacted by the floods. The situation is being closely monitored by Team Assam on the ground. Additionally, senior minister Keshab Mahanta visited Jorhat and Sivasagar to assess the flood situation and oversee ongoing rescue operations.
Minister Susanta Borgohain visited flood-affected areas in the Demow Assembly constituency to coordinate rescue operations and ensure the safety of affected residents. The state government has deployed ministers to different flood-affected districts to monitor rescue operations, coordinate with local authorities, and facilitate timely distribution of relief materials.
The flood situation in Assam has worsened due to heavy rainfall, affecting tens of thousands of people across multiple districts. Rescue teams, including personnel from various agencies, are engaged in evacuation and relief operations while authorities continue to monitor the evolving situation. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority reported a significant deterioration in the flood situation, with casualties and a large number of affected individuals.
