Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma criticized the Congress and its State President Gaurav Gogoi, forecasting a significant loss for the party in the upcoming state Assembly elections. Sarma stated that the Congress relies only on a specific voter segment and has lost broader public support in Assam. He expressed confidence in the BJP’s victory and dismissed the possibility of the party becoming the main opposition.
Sarma targeted Gaurav Gogoi, accusing him of lacking commitment to Assam and its people. He questioned Gogoi’s understanding of Assam’s geography and politics, particularly in Upper Assam. Sarma highlighted discrepancies in Gogoi’s statements about the number of Assembly seats in Upper Assam, suggesting a lack of knowledge about the region.
The Chief Minister also alleged that three members of Gogoi’s family are “foreigners,” raising doubts about the Congress leader’s credibility. Sarma emphasized the BJP’s governance achievements in Assam, citing development, stability, and strong leadership. He reiterated his belief that the people of Assam would decisively reject the Congress in the upcoming elections.
