Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has asked the Indian Army and Indian Air Force to be prepared for potential evacuation and rescue operations in Sivasagar, Charaideo, and Jorhat districts due to worsening flood conditions. This proactive measure aims to ensure a rapid response if the situation deteriorates further. Sarma emphasized the importance of swift action in the face of escalating floods, directing senior ministers to oversee relief efforts in the affected areas.
The Chief Minister instructed four key ministers, including Finance Minister Ajanta Neog and Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, to visit the impacted regions promptly. Their role is to supervise relief operations on the ground and guarantee that all affected families receive timely support from the authorities. Sarma reiterated the government’s commitment to prioritizing the safety and well-being of the citizens, highlighting continuous monitoring of the evolving flood scenario.
