England’s Danni Wyatt-Hodge has clinched the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for June 2026, thanks to her outstanding performances in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. This marks her second win after securing the award in November 2024. She beat Scotland skipper Kathryn Bryce and India’s N Sree Charani to claim this prestigious accolade.
Expressing her joy, Danni stated, “I’m delighted to win the ICC Player of the Month award, especially since it came for performances at a World Cup on home soil.” She highlighted the significance of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and the unforgettable experience of playing in the final at Lord’s.
Danni played a pivotal role in leading England to the tournament final, emerging as the top run-scorer with a remarkable 302 runs. Her exceptional performance broke records, surpassing the previous highest run-scorer record of 259 runs held by Beth Mooney. Danni became the first player to exceed the 300-run mark in a single edition of the tournament.
Throughout June, Danni showcased her prowess by accumulating 287 runs in six matches, boasting an impressive average of 71.75 and a striking strike rate of 151.85. Her standout moments included an unbeaten 105 off 62 balls against Sri Lanka, a match-winning 65 against the West Indies, and a powerful 89 not out off 53 balls that eliminated defending champions New Zealand.
Reflecting on the tournament, Danni expressed, “While we fell short of lifting the trophy, we gave everything we had and were proud to be part of a tournament that captured the imagination of fans.” She hopes that the tournament’s impact will inspire more young girls and boys to embrace cricket in the future.
