Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is set to hold a significant press conference on Sunday to unveil a broader political connection involving Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi. Sarma criticized the alleged understanding between Congress and Akhil Gogoi-led Raijor Dal before the Assembly elections, stating that the Opposition alliance lacks potential in the state. He mentioned that the conference would go beyond previous claims about Gaurav Gogoi’s supposed “Pakistan link” and would reveal the entire associated network.
Reacting to the reports of a Congress-Raijor Dal collaboration, Sarma dismissed the chances of the Opposition in Assam, suggesting they could try elsewhere. He also took a dig at Raijor Dal leader Akhil Gogoi, asserting that he wouldn’t be able to form a government in Assam even in the next 500 years. Sarma alleged that Gaurav Gogoi was trying to align with Akhil Gogoi and Assam Jatiya Parishad president Lurinjyoti Gogoi in anticipation of a joint political response post the press conference on Sunday.
The Chief Minister accused the Opposition of trying to shield themselves from the impact of the BJP’s upcoming revelations. He warned the Opposition leaders that their political relevance would diminish after February 8 and advised them to make the most of the current political scenario. Sarma’s statements have escalated political tensions in Assam as the state approaches the Assembly elections.
