Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma emphasized the genuine concerns of students regarding the NEET examination but cautioned against politicizing the issue, especially during the state’s severe flood crisis. Sarma expressed solidarity with students, aiming for a more transparent and robust examination system, with the Centre already taking steps to address these concerns.
While acknowledging the importance of student protests, Sarma urged against turning them into political movements, given the current critical flood situation in districts like Sivasagar, Charaideo, Golaghat, and Jorhat. He stressed the need to prioritize humanitarian efforts to support those affected by the floods.
Despite the government’s concern for students, Sarma highlighted that immediate focus lies on providing timely flood relief and rehabilitation to affected families statewide. He underlined the government’s commitment to maintaining a fair and transparent NEET examination process in Assam, ensuring increased medical seat availability for local students over the years.
