Assam Pradesh Congress Committee President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi criticized the Centre for alleged irregularities in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET). He accused the government of lacking accountability on issues impacting students and the public. Gogoi emphasized the Congress’s commitment to addressing concerns regarding the NEET paper leak and the government’s handling of the situation.
Gogoi highlighted that the Centre had not adequately addressed the worries raised by students and families. He stressed the importance of accountability in a democratic setup, urging the government to respond to public concerns. The Congress leader linked the NEET controversy to broader issues within the country’s examination and recruitment systems.
Gogoi pointed out that the public’s confidence in examination institutions had been eroded due to recurring concerns about competitive exams. He mentioned various societal segments facing unresolved challenges, including farmers, Agniveers, women students, and candidates affected by exam-related controversies. The Congress MP called for increased government responsiveness to address these issues and restore trust in examination processes.
Referring to recruitment and competitive exam concerns, Gogoi also raised issues with the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). He criticized the lack of institutional accountability in addressing stakeholders’ questions. Gogoi emphasized the necessity of transparency and prompt action to rebuild public confidence in examination systems and stressed the government’s responsibility to citizens, especially concerning students’ futures and job prospects.
