Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi from Assam switched to the BJP in New Delhi shortly after leaving the Congress party. Bordoloi, a former Assam minister under the Congress, made the move in the presence of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and state BJP president Dilip Saikia.
Expressing deep disappointment and citing ongoing humiliation within the Assam Congress, Pradyut Bordoloi explained his resignation as a painful but necessary decision. He highlighted feeling isolated and disrespected by senior party members, leading to his departure from the Congress.
Bordoloi, while acknowledging the Congress’s role in his political journey, emphasized that the current unfavorable environment within the Assam Congress prompted his departure. Despite his gratitude towards the party, he felt compelled to resign due to the deteriorating situation within the Assam Congress.
The departure of Pradyut Bordoloi, a seasoned leader, and his alignment with the BJP is viewed as a significant blow to the Congress in Assam. This move comes at a critical juncture for the Congress, which is already facing internal turmoil and preparing for upcoming political challenges.
