Assam Congress President, Gaurav Gogoi, criticized the Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government for its slow response to the flood crisis. He mentioned delays in providing essential relief materials to affected families, calling the floods an “unprecedented humanitarian crisis.” Gogoi highlighted the lack of basic necessities like food, water, and sanitation for survivors in various districts.

Gogoi expressed concern over the situation, stating that 41 lives have been lost in the floods, with several individuals still missing. He emphasized that many residents have been displaced, leaving numerous families homeless and struggling to recover from the disaster. During his visits to severely impacted areas like Jorhat, Sivasagar, and Charaideo, he found relief efforts to be insufficient.

The Congress leader pointed out that flood-affected families were experiencing shortages of essential items like food, water, clothing, and disinfectants, increasing the risk of disease outbreaks. He urged the Assam BJP government to provide a transparent report on flood-related casualties and ensure prompt delivery of relief aid to all affected households. Additionally, Gogoi called on the Central government to send technical experts to help rebuild homes and restore agriculture in the flood-affected regions.
