Assam Congress President and Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the NEET examination irregularities, accusing the BJP-led Central government of avoiding accountability by blaming Jawaharlal Nehru. Gogoi, in a social media post, highlighted the government’s response to student protests regarding the NEET issue, contrasting student demands with the government’s actions. He pointed out that instead of taking responsibility for the exam lapses, the BJP leadership was deflecting attention by referencing historical figures like Nehru.
The ongoing protests by students and opposition parties nationwide stem from alleged paper leaks and irregularities in the NEET exam. Opposition leaders, including Gogoi, have called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, holding the Centre responsible for compromising the exam’s integrity. The controversy has triggered a political debate, with the Opposition accusing the government of mishandling the examination process and failing to prevent malpractice affecting numerous aspirants.
While the BJP denies the allegations, it emphasizes a fair and transparent investigation into the NEET issue. The Central government, defending the exam’s credibility, assures strict actions against any wrongdoing in line with the law. It condemns the politicization of the matter for electoral purposes and pledges legal repercussions once the investigation concludes, aiming to uphold the integrity of public exams and ensure justice for students involved in malpractice.
