Assam Education Minister Ranoj Pegu expressed gratitude to the people of his Dhemaji Assembly constituency for electing him, attributing the BJP’s success in the state Assembly elections to the growing trust in the alliance and its leadership. Pegu pledged to continue working towards the constituency’s development and residents’ welfare over the next five years. He emphasized his commitment to providing various services and fostering growth in the region.
Pegu highlighted the strengthened position of the National Democratic Alliance in Assam, indicating a likelihood of the new Council of Ministers being sworn in on May 12. Following the arrival of the party’s central observers on May 10, the BJP-led alliance plans to convene a legislature party meeting to elect its leader, who will assume the role of Chief Minister. Pegu hinted at the possibility of former Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma returning to the top position.
Addressing concerns about ministerial appointments, Pegu underscored the importance of diverse representation and teamwork in governance. He emphasized that while not everyone can be a minister in a 126-member Assembly, each MLA plays a crucial role in serving the state. Pegu also mentioned preparations for a grand swearing-in ceremony at Khanapara, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top BJP leaders scheduled to attend.
