The flood situation in Assam has shown significant improvement, with only one district, Dhemaji, still facing the impact as per the latest bulletin from the Assam State Disaster Management Authority. The Katakhal river at Matizuri in Dhemaji remains above the danger level, affecting two revenue circles and three villages, impacting a total of 1,367 people, including men, women, and children. Approximately 26 hectares of cropland are still submerged due to the floods.
Authorities have set up a relief camp and distribution center in Jonai, accommodating a total of 38 individuals. Fortunately, there have been no new casualties or missing persons reported during this period. However, a significant number of animals, including large and small livestock, have been affected by the floods.
No major damage to infrastructure like roads, bridges, or embankments has been reported. While several kutcha houses have been fully or partially damaged, along with other structures like cattle sheds, the relief efforts have been ongoing. The closure of a relief camp in Jonai signifies a positive step towards normalcy in the flood-affected regions.
