Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) president Lurinjyoti Gogoi has praised the Assam government’s move to expedite court proceedings in the Zubeen Garg case. Gogoi expressed concerns about attempts to politicize the issue and complicate the investigation. He emphasized the longstanding demand for justice for Zubeen Garg, calling it a crucial matter that should not be rushed but handled fairly and transparently.
Gogoi alleged that the incident involving Zubeen Garg was a premeditated murder and criticized efforts to divert attention and sow confusion. He accused the BJP-led state government of politicizing the case and suggested that Zubeen Garg’s vocal stance against dominant politics might be a reason for this. Gogoi highlighted the importance of addressing the issue based on justice rather than political motives.
Furthermore, Gogoi criticized the state government for allegedly politicizing welfare schemes meant for public benefit. He stressed that such schemes should not be used for political gain but should genuinely serve the citizens. The Assam Cabinet recently decided to approach the Gauhati High Court to establish a fast-track court for the Zubeen Garg case, citing public sentiment and the need for timely justice.
