Assam MP Pradyut Bordoloi explained that his decision to leave the Congress party and join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was not sudden but a result of long-standing dissatisfaction within the party. He mentioned feeling a lack of camaraderie and responsiveness from the party leadership, leading to a trust deficit among senior members. Bordoloi expressed that he could not effectively contribute in such an environment.
Bordoloi highlighted that the unresponsiveness of the party leadership was a significant factor in his choice to switch political affiliations. Regarding his son, Prateek Bordoloi, who was given a Congress ticket for the Margherita Assembly constituency, Bordoloi mentioned a lack of communication with him lately.
The BJP has nominated Pradyut Bordoloi for the Dispur Assembly constituency, signaling a notable shift in Assam’s political scenario ahead of the state elections. In a related move, Prateek Bordoloi withdrew his candidature from the Margherita Assembly constituency, citing the “present circumstances” following his father’s decision to switch parties. Prateek Bordoloi conveyed his decision to the Congress President with respect and a sense of responsibility towards the party.
