One person died, and 14 others were injured in Jaipur, Rajasthan, when a speeding Audi car hit them. The incident occurred on Friday night when the car lost control, hitting a divider, roadside stalls, food carts, and a tree before stopping. The impact was severe, damaging parked vehicles and leaving the Audi completely wrecked.
Thirteen pedestrians were hit by the car and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Four of the injured were in critical condition and were transferred to SMS Hospital for advanced care. The police reported that the Audi was overspeeding and caused the accident, with one person detained and three others identified for apprehension.
Ramesh Bairwa, one of the injured, passed away during treatment. The car’s occupants were allegedly under the influence of alcohol, with one arrested and the others fleeing the scene. The driver, Dinesh Ranwan, has been identified, and efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining suspects.
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed sorrow over the incident and ensured proper medical care for the injured. Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Bairwa and Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khimsar visited the hospital to check on the victims. Investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances, including the car’s speed and the driver’s alcohol consumption.
