Australia’s debutant pacer Lucy Hamilton shone on her first day, taking three wickets as India reached 184/8 in 57 overs during the dinner break at the WACA Ground. India, starting at 99/4, saw Deepti Sharma fall early to Annabel Sutherland, while Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh put up a 23-run partnership off 62 balls.
However, the resistance was short-lived as Richa got out to Ashleigh Gardner, and Jemimah, who scored 52, was dismissed by Lucy. Lucy also claimed Sneh Rana’s wicket, completing a three-wicket haul on her debut. Australia’s bowlers dominated with the pink ball, utilizing bounce and seam movement effectively on the lively WACA pitch.
Australia’s pace attack, led by Annabel, Lucy Hamilton, and Darcie Brown, had earlier put India under pressure, reducing them to 99/4 in 27 overs at tea. The hosts, captained by Alyssa Healy in her final international game, maintained control. India, trailing 8-4 in the series, played Tests for the first time since mid-2024, introducing debutants Kashvee, Sayali, Pratika, and Kranti.
