Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker commended India’s significant role both bilaterally and in international forums, emphasizing the weight carried by India’s voice. During a joint press meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, Stocker highlighted the shared belief in achieving peace through negotiations and supporting a rules-based order over might-based governance.

He lauded India as a reliable partner valued by Austria, emphasizing the alignment of common interests and fundamental values between the two nations.
Recognizing India’s robust economic growth, Stocker praised the country’s impressive 7% annual growth rate and its status as a dynamic global market and strategic partner. He anticipated enhanced benefits for Austrian companies from India’s growth trajectory and emphasized the significance of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between India and the EU in mitigating trade barriers and fostering new export and investment opportunities.
Stocker described his visit to New Delhi as a “milestone” in bilateral relations, expressing gratitude for the strengthening diplomatic ties between Austria and India. He highlighted the delegation of 60 high-ranking Austrian business leaders accompanying him, emphasizing the mutual benefits derived from the close political and economic relations between the two countries.
Stressing the importance of security and defense cooperation, Stocker announced plans to bolster strategic dialogue in these areas between India and Austria. He emphasized the need for swift implementation of ideas, investment facilitation, and resolution of issues to enhance cooperation in various sectors, including security, defense, and food standards.
