The Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of East District Police in Delhi apprehended an alleged auto-lifter, Sameer, aged 24, from Khichripur. The squad recovered four stolen two-wheelers, unveiling four motor vehicle theft cases in East and South-East Delhi. This arrest is part of the district’s ongoing efforts to combat vehicle theft and dismantle criminal networks involved in property-related crimes.
The AATS team, under the supervision of ACP Operations Pavan Kumar and Inspector Anand Singh, intensified surveillance and preventive measures to tackle motor vehicle theft, mobile snatching, and street crimes in vulnerable areas. The team, comprising various officers and constables, received specific intelligence on July 6 about an alleged vehicle thief passing through Khichripur on a stolen motorcycle. They swiftly intercepted the suspect during a motorcycle ride in the area.
Despite the suspect’s attempt to flee, the police managed to apprehend him after a brief chase. Upon interrogation, the accused admitted to multiple motor vehicle thefts and disclosed locations where additional stolen vehicles were hidden. Subsequent investigations confirmed that the recovered vehicles were stolen from different police station jurisdictions in Delhi.
Legal action has been initiated against the accused under the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) at Police Station Kalyanpuri. Further inquiries are ongoing to identify his associates, track the network involved in disposing of stolen vehicles, and establish his role in other vehicle theft cases.
