Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj of Ayodhya’s Saket Bhavan Temple praised Suvendu Adhikari’s inauguration as the ninth Chief Minister of West Bengal, calling it a historic day. Adhikari’s appointment is seen as the realization of a longstanding aspiration, with the ceremony attended by PM Narendra Modi and leaders from BJP-governed states.
In an interview, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj emphasized the significance of the day for followers of ‘Sanatan Dharma’. He described Adhikari’s oath-taking as a crucial milestone, marking the achievement of a goal that spanned nearly four decades. The end of what he termed as an era of disorder, misrule, and tyranny under the previous Trinamool Congress regime was highlighted.
Reflecting on the challenges faced by the Hindu community in West Bengal, particularly women and girls, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj expressed optimism for a positive change. He mentioned that the state had witnessed instances of harassment and oppression, but the new leadership brings hope for a better future. The Hindu seer also noted the past difficulties in practicing ‘Sanatan’ traditions and the need for legal intervention for religious celebrations.
Expressing gratitude towards the people of West Bengal for their overwhelming support, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj credited them for bringing the BJP to power. He commended Suvendu Adhikari for his dedication to the welfare of the people and the preservation of ‘Sanatan’ values amidst challenges. Additionally, he lauded PM Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah for their efforts that contributed to the electoral success.
Describing West Bengal as a land rich in spiritual heritage, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj highlighted the cultural significance of the day. He mentioned the state’s association with revered deities like ‘Maa Chandi’ and ‘Maa Kali’, symbolizing a moment of pride and festivity for the ‘Sanatan’ culture.
