India’s U19 World Cup-winning captain and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) player Ayush Mhatre expressed disappointment as he was sidelined from the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 due to a hamstring injury. Mhatre, in an emotional message to CSK fans, assured them of his return stronger after recovery.
In an Instagram post, Mhatre expressed his regret at not being able to contribute further to @chennaiipl in IPL 2026 but promised a resilient comeback. He also wished the CSK team success for the remaining matches, despite his absence, thanking fans for their support.
CSK announced that Mhatre would miss the rest of IPL 2026 following a hamstring injury sustained during a recent match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The franchise disclosed that the young top-order batsman would need six to 12 weeks for rehabilitation.
Mhatre joins the list of CSK players ruled out this season, alongside Khaleel Ahmed and Nathan Ellis. Former captain MS Dhoni is also yet to play due to a calf injury suffered before the tournament. CSK, after a defeat to SRH, currently stands seventh in the points table with four points from six games and is set to clash with Mumbai Indians (MI) next.
