Bail Application Filed for Tej Pratap Yadav, Alleges Political Motive in Arrest

A bail application was submitted on behalf of Tej Pratap Yadav, former Bihar minister and Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) President, questioning the legality of his arrest. The application, filed in the court of the Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM), alleged that the arrest was politically motivated and done without due process. Tej Pratap Yadav’s counsel claimed that he was taken into custody while visiting a shopping mall in Patna.

Advocate Nisha Singh, representing Tej Pratap Yadav, raised concerns about the timing of the arrest, suggesting it was strategically planned to prevent immediate legal recourse due to the Sunday court holiday. She criticized the police for not filing a First Information Report (FIR) before the arrest, highlighting procedural irregularities. The lawyer emphasized Tej Pratap Yadav’s health issues, including diabetes and high blood pressure, and requested medical observation instead of judicial custody.

Questioning the severity of the charges, Advocate Singh disputed allegations of inciting violence and attempted murder against Tej Pratap Yadav. She clarified that he had not made any provocative statements during a student protest but had briefly interacted with students upon their request. The bail plea is currently under the consideration of the SDJM court, while the police maintain that the case is related to violence during the Bihar Bandh protests.
