Tara Chand, President of the Baloch American Congress, has strongly criticized Balochistan’s Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, accusing him of being a “broker for Pakistani soldiers.” Chand expressed dismay over the arrest of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders, including Mahrang Baloch, Gulzadi Baloch, and Bebow Baloch, emphasizing that they have been held in custody for months without valid reasons.
In a statement, Chand condemned the actions of Baloch ministers and officials, labeling them as “agents” of Pakistani soldiers operating within the provincial assembly. He urged those in power to acknowledge their actions and emphasized the need for accountability in the face of alleged collaboration with Pakistani forces.
Naseem Baloch, Chairman of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), also raised concerns over the prolonged detention of BYC leaders, describing it as an “illegal detention” that violates international human rights standards. He called on the global community to break their silence on the matter and ensure a fair and just resolution for the detained leaders.
Various human rights organizations have joined the call for the immediate release of the detained BYC leaders, advocating for the dismissal of purportedly false charges and the guarantee of fair trials devoid of state interference.
