The Grand Alliance of Balochistan government employees has declared a pen-down strike to protest for various demands, including the payment of a Disparity Reduction Allowance. Balochistan Grand Alliance General Secretary Ali Asghar Bangulzai mentioned that the strike is in response to the government’s perceived indifference and inefficiency. The employees’ organizations associated with the Balochistan Grand Alliance are planning a pen-down strike on Monday, followed by a complete shutdown of all government institutions in the province on December 30 and 31.
Earlier in October, security personnel in Pakistan’s Kalat protested against the Balochistan government’s decision to merge the Levies Force into the police department. Levies personnel conducted protests across Balochistan following the issuance of a notification by the provincial government regarding the merger. The protesters, carrying placards against the merger, voiced their opposition to the integration of the Levies Force into the police.
During the protests, Levies officers and personnel emphasized the historical significance of the Levies force, highlighting its crucial role in maintaining law and order in Balochistan. They expressed concerns over the government’s decision to merge the two forces and urged the authorities to adhere to the High Court’s stay order on the merger. The Balochistan government had approved the merger of the Levies force with the police in six out of seven administrative divisions of the province, designating these divisions as A-Areas.
