Bangladesh and Pakistan initiated their inaugural Air Staff talks in Dhaka following recent security actions against a Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) module within the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF). A delegation from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) arrived in Dhaka led by Air Vice Marshal Aurangzeb Ahmed for a five-day visit, as per ‘Northeast News’ official documents.
The report disclosed that Bangladeshi security agencies conducted raids at BAF airbases, resulting in the arrest of squadron leaders and non-commissioned officers (NCOs) allegedly linked to the TTP. Although the BAF has not officially commented, court martial proceedings have reportedly commenced against the detained personnel.
Despite the crackdown, Bangladeshi officials have maintained engagements with Pakistan, with Pakistani delegates visiting Dhaka as planned. The Indian defense establishment is anticipated to closely monitor the PAF delegation’s visit for the ‘1st Air Staff Talk (AST)’.
Salah Uddin Shoaib Choudhury, Editor of ‘Blitz’, expressed concerns over Pakistan’s heightened military-intelligence activities in Bangladesh post the 2024 political transition. Choudhury highlighted the significance of Air Vice Marshal Ahmed’s visit, citing his role in anti-India military propaganda and Pakistan’s activities in Bangladesh since 2024.
