Bangladesh’s fast bowler Rubel Hossain has officially retired from international cricket, concluding a career marked by speed, dedication, and memorable performances for his country. In an emotional Facebook post, the 36-year-old announced his decision to step away from the global cricketing arena, expressing gratitude for his time with the national team.
Rubel emphasized that while he bids farewell to international cricket, he plans to continue his cricketing journey by participating in domestic matches. He extended his thanks to his family, friends, the media, and his fans for their unwavering support throughout his career, hoping for their continued backing in the future.
Having been a key pace bowler for Bangladesh for over a decade, Rubel showcased his speed and composure in high-pressure situations. His final international series was against New Zealand in 2021, leaving behind an impressive track record across Test, One Day Internationals (ODIs), and T20 Internationals (T20Is). With 36 Test wickets, 129 ODI wickets, and 28 T20I wickets, his contributions were instrumental in Bangladesh’s progress as a competitive limited-overs team.
Even post his international retirement, Rubel has remained active in domestic cricket, recently representing the Prime Bank Cricket Club in 2024.
