The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has revealed a 15-player squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series versus New Zealand, with Shubman Gill appointed as the captain. Shreyas Iyer, returning from injury, is part of the squad pending fitness clearance from the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence (CoE). Hardik Pandya, after a notable performance, will be rested to manage his workload ahead of the T20 World Cup.
Iyer, subject to fitness approval from BCCI COE, is expected to join Mumbai’s Vijay Hazare Trophy matches after completing rehab in Bengaluru. Jasprit Bumrah will feature only in the T20I series against New Zealand and the T20 World Cup, with pace bowling responsibilities shifting to Siraj, Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, and Prasidh Krishna in his absence.
Despite impressive domestic performances, Devdutt Padikkal and Dhruv Jurel did not make the cut for the New Zealand series. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, in stellar form, retain their spots, showcasing strong performances in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for their respective state teams.
India’s ODI squad comprises Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul (WK), Shreyas Iyer (VC)*, Washington Sundar, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohd Siraj, Harshit Rana, Prasidh Krishna, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Yashasvi Jaiswal.
