The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, Devajit Saikia, praised the Indian Senior Women’s Team for their victory over Australia in a three-match T20I series. India emerged victorious in the third T20I in Adelaide, securing the series 2-1. In a tense match at the Adelaide Oval, India defended a target of 159 runs, with their bowlers maintaining composure to secure a 17-run win.
India’s success was fueled by strong performances from Smriti Mandhana and Jemimah Rodrigues, while Shreyanka Patil’s bowling prowess ensured India’s triumph. Saikia, in a social media post, commended the team for their clinical display and encouraged them to continue their good form in the upcoming ODI series in Australia. India had previously won the first T20I but suffered a defeat in the second match.
During the match, Mandhana and Rodrigues’ partnership of 121 runs laid a solid foundation for India’s innings. Although Mandhana scored 82 off 55 balls and Rodrigues contributed 59 off 46 balls, it was Richa Ghosh who, along with Rodrigues, ensured India’s batting lineup remained steady. Australia’s chase faced early setbacks with key wickets falling, including that of captain Sophie Molineux, who was dismissed lbw by Shreyanka Patil.
Australia’s response was led by Ashleigh Gardner’s resilient knock of 57 runs, supported by Phoebe Litchfield’s 26 runs. Despite their efforts, India’s bowlers, particularly Shreyanka Patil and Shree Charani, continued to take crucial wickets at regular intervals, ultimately securing India’s victory in the series.
