Bengal cricketer Abhishek Porel, who plays for Delhi Capitals in the IPL, faces allegations of cohabitation under the pretext of marriage. A complaint was filed by a young medical student from Karnataka at the Mogra police station in Hooghly district. Porel, a resident of Chandannagar, has refuted the accusations, labeling them as untrue.
The complainant claimed a three-year relationship with Porel and plans for marriage. However, issues arose a year and a half ago, leading to the recent formal complaint accompanied by her mother. Superintendent of Police Kunwar Bhushan Singh visited the police station to discuss the case, confirming the initiation of an investigation.
Abhishek Porel, currently in Bengaluru, joined Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025, filling in for Rishabh Pant. Despite a limited play in the previous season, he was retained by the franchise. In the latest season, Porel showcased his skills as a young wicketkeeper, gaining the team’s confidence with his performance.
