Bengali actor and Trinamool Congress MP, Deepak Adhikari, known as Dev, requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to include technicians in the state’s health scheme. The Chief Minister accepted the request, extending benefits to over 7,000 technicians in the Bengali entertainment industry. Adhikari expressed gratitude for the inclusion of technicians under the Swasthya Sathi Scheme.
A registration camp will be held on March 17 at the Technicians Studio for technicians to enroll in the scheme. Previously, technicians were covered by a state mediclaim of Rs 5 lakh, which has now been discontinued, leaving them and their families without health coverage. Adhikari’s efforts aim to ensure technicians’ access to healthcare security.
Adhikari’s letter to the Chief Minister highlighted the plight of technicians who were not covered under any health scheme. In response, a registration camp has been organized for technicians to enroll in the Swasthya Sathi scheme. Additionally, Chief Minister Banerjee inaugurated a new building at N.R.S. Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, emphasizing improved patient care.
