Former Champions Bengaluru FC began the Indian Super League 2025-26 season with a victory, defeating Sporting Club Delhi 2-0 with goals from N Sivasakthi and Sunil Chhetri. This win places Bengaluru FC as the third team to secure a win in their opening match, following champions Mohun Bagan Super Giant and Jamshedpur FC.

The match saw Bengaluru FC starting energetically, with players like Ryan Williams and Ashique Kuruniyan coming close to scoring early on. Despite Bengaluru’s possession dominance, SC Delhi’s defense made it challenging for them to create clear chances. Augustine Lalrocchana tested Bengaluru’s goalkeeper Gurpreet with a shot towards the end of the first half.

In the second half, Bengaluru FC continued to pressurize SC Delhi, with Braian Sánchez and Sunil Chhetri creating scoring opportunities. The hosts maintained control of the game, while SC Delhi struggled to break through Bengaluru’s defense. Bengaluru sealed their victory with a goal from Chhetri, securing a 2-0 win. Nikhil Poojary was awarded the Player of the Match title.
