Bharatpur MLA’s son, Ghulam Nabi Azad, was detained in West Bengal for allegedly assaulting his father’s security guard. The incident took place during a meeting at the MLA’s office, where an argument between the security guard and the MLA escalated, leading to Azad’s involvement in the altercation. Following the incident, the police detained Azad at the MLA’s residence in Murshidabad district.
Kabir, the MLA, expressed his discontent with the situation and threatened to protest at the office of the Murshidabad Superintendent of Police. He claimed that the security guard unexpectedly entered his office and demanded leave, which resulted in the altercation. Kabir emphasized that his son’s actions were in response to the guard’s intrusion into his office without a valid reason.
A senior officer from the Murshidabad district police clarified that the security guard did not request leave and that an investigation was ongoing regarding the assault on the police officer. In response to the incident, a Trinamool Congress spokesperson highlighted that Kabir’s son’s actions were unacceptable and that appropriate action would be taken by the police. Kabir had previously been suspended from the Trinamool Congress for engaging in activities against the party’s interests.
