In a significant operation, the Bhopal Police carried out a large-scale raid at the Irani Dera in Aman Colony, under the Nishatpura police station jurisdiction, late on Tuesday night. More than 400 police officers were involved in the operation conducted around 2 a.m., maintaining strict confidentiality to prevent any alerts to the suspects. The area was cordoned off, causing panic among residents.
During the raid, police thoroughly searched every house, questioned suspects, and apprehended over 40 individuals, including women, for further investigation. Among those arrested are individuals facing serious criminal charges in Madhya Pradesh and other states. Notably, a wanted criminal named Shahadat, with a reward of Rs 138,000 on his head, was also apprehended after an extensive search.
The Bhopal Police, led by DCP Mayur Khandelwal with support from 2 ADCP, 9 ACP, and 20 TI, conducted the operation at Irani Dera, Aman Colony. The newly appointed Bhopal Police Commissioner, Sanjay Kumar, oversaw the entire operation, succeeding Harinarayanchari Mishra. Further details will be shared by Bhopal CP Sanjay Kumar in a press conference scheduled for later in the day.
This development follows the recent arrest of Abid Ali alias Raju alias ‘Rahman Dakait’, believed to be the mastermind of a criminal syndicate operating across multiple states from Bhopal’s Irani Dera. Raju Irani managed a network of gangs operating in 14 states, engaging in various criminal activities such as robbery, fraud, extortion, impersonation, arson, and attempted murder. Additionally, Irani faces charges under the stringent MCOCA in Maharashtra, often adopting disguises like a fake CBI officer, a police official, or a sadhu to deceive others.
