Patna, Aug 19 (IANS) The Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, approved 13 proposals during its meeting at the Cabinet Hall of the Main Secretariat in Patna on Wednesday.

The decisions cover infrastructure, irrigation, agriculture, animal husbandry, renewable energy, employment and technology.

The Cabinet approved the construction of the proposed 336-km Buxar-Bhagalpur Greenfield Expressway. It connects Buxar and Bhagalpur through Arwal, Jehanabad, Nalanda, Jamui and other districts.

The cabinet has also sanctioned Rs 305.60 crore for installing 11,000 private tubewells during 2026-27 to improve irrigation and ensure water availability for farmers.

The cabinet has also approved restoration of the Janaki Nagar branch canal and associated canal systems in Narpatganj block in Araria district at a cost of Rs 30.35 crore, with a two-year completion period.

It has also approved the restoration of the Katihar distributary and the Phulpur, Hasanganj, Baijnathpur and Semapur sub-distributaries at approximately Rs 35.82 crore.

A Rs 63.92-crore scheme through COMFED was approved to improve livestock breeds, increase milk production and enhance dairy productivity during 2026-27.

The Cabinet approved an MoU between Taiyo AI India Pvt Ltd and Bihar’s Information Technology Department to promote the development of an AI ecosystem in the state.

It sanctioned Rs 34.95 crore for the construction of warehouses with a combined storage capacity of 48,200 metric tonnes.

The facilities will have capacities of 200, 500 and 1,000 tonnes and will be developed through 52 selected societies with a 50% grant and 50% working capital component.

The state cabinet has approved a 100% waiver of stamp duty and registration fees on lease documents for land acquired for the Kajra solar project in Lakhisarai.

The Cabinet has approved that the Sub-Regional Employment Exchange will now be renamed the District Employment Exchange.

Approval was also granted to establish a Primary Sugar Mill Cooperative Society for sugarcane growers in the reserved areas of the Sakri and Raiyam sugar mills.

Amendments to the Bihar Social Media and Online Media Amendment Rules, 2026, were approved to facilitate wider and more effective publicity of government welfare schemes and programmes.

The decisions collectively focus on road connectivity, irrigation, agricultural productivity, renewable energy, employment and emerging technologies, with the government emphasising faster development and better utilisation of Bihar’s resources.
