A meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary saw the Bihar Cabinet approving 13 major agenda items covering governance, infrastructure, security, sports, industrial development, and public welfare. One significant decision involved allocating Rs 747.97 crore in advance from the Bihar Contingency Fund for Rural Local Bodies for the financial year 2026-27, aligning with the 15th Finance Commission’s recommendations.
The Cabinet also greenlit the establishment of a new post of Inspector General (Border) under the Special Branch to enhance intelligence coordination and security management along Bihar’s international borders. In the sports sector, approvals were granted for transferring government land to the Sports Department for constructing major sports infrastructure projects, including an outdoor stadium in Saharsa, a sports complex building in Arwal, and additional land for the Deo Sports Complex in Aurangabad.
Furthermore, a notable tourism and connectivity initiative received approval, with Rs 10.40 crore sanctioned for IndiGo to operate direct international flights between Gaya International Airport and Bangkok. This move aims to boost foreign tourist and Buddhist pilgrim visits to Bihar, in addition to creating job opportunities.
Under the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, the Cabinet gave the green light for establishing a 960 MTPD parboiled rice production unit in Nalanda with an investment of Rs 88.18 crore, expected to employ 185 skilled and unskilled workers. Security-wise, the Cabinet empowered the Director General of Police in Patna to retain 50 specialized police personnel within the Special Task Force for up to 15 years, focusing on combating Left-Wing Extremism and intelligence gathering.
Moreover, industrial development incentives worth Rs 73.45 crore were approved for setting up a grain-based ethanol plant and a power generation unit in Kaimur, projected to employ 93 workers. The Cabinet also allocated 324 acres of land to the Water Resources Department out of the 1,300 acres acquired by BIADA under the Amritsar-Kolkata Industrial Corridor for developing a reservoir with a storage capacity of 8.5 MCM and water availability of 19 MLD.
In the realm of science and technology, the creation of 53 posts for the Bihar Council on Science and Technology and its subordinate offices was sanctioned. Additionally, funds transfer and utilization for the financial year 2026-27 were approved in line with the 6th State Finance Commission’s recommendations for the period between 2021 and 2025.
