The Bihar Cabinet recently greenlit 29 proposals in its latest meeting, focusing on education, transport infrastructure, religious tourism, and public amenities. Key decisions include setting up five new Kendriya Vidyalayas, modernizing 31 bus stands through Public-Private Partnership, developing the Lord Vaman Temple in Buxar, and organizing a state-sponsored pilgrimage to Somnath for 1,100 devotees.
For each of the five new Kendriya Vidyalayas, the Cabinet approved the allotment of five acres of government land in different locations across Bihar. These schools aim to enhance access to quality education by offering modern academic infrastructure and learning facilities to students.
Additionally, the Cabinet granted in-principle approval for the comprehensive redevelopment of 31 bus stands in Bihar through the PPP model. The upgrade will include modern passenger waiting lounges, improved parking facilities, commercial complexes, digital passenger services, enhanced sanitation infrastructure, and advanced traffic management systems at various bus terminals.
Furthermore, the Cabinet gave the go-ahead for the development and beautification of the Lord Vaman Temple situated within the Central Jail complex in Buxar. The project involves demarcating land for the temple complex, constructing a boundary wall, enhancing security arrangements, and creating a dedicated access route for devotees to improve facilities for pilgrims while maintaining the site’s religious significance.
The Bihar government also approved a two-day pilgrimage to Somnath for around 1,100 devotees, starting on July 20, 2026, to mark Somnath Swabhiman Parv – 1000 Years of Unwavering Faith. The program received the necessary administrative and financial approvals, with the aim of facilitating a well-organized pilgrimage and boosting religious tourism.
