Bihar CM Honors Young Cricketer for U-19 World Cup Success

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar recognized cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his exceptional performance in India’s triumph at the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2026. At a ceremony in Patna, Kumar awarded Suryavanshi a cash prize of Rs 50 lakh and a ceremonial shawl. The Chief Minister commended Suryavanshi for bringing pride to Bihar and the nation with his achievements on the global stage.

Several dignitaries, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh, and Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, attended the event. Chaudhary highlighted Suryavanshi’s success as a source of great pride for Bihar, emphasizing the cricketer’s roots in Samastipur district. He pledged ongoing support for Suryavanshi’s sporting journey.

Sports Minister Shreyasi Singh lauded Suryavanshi’s accomplishments, calling it a moment of pride for Bihar and India. She expressed hope for his continued success and representation of the country at the highest levels. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary also extended congratulations to Suryavanshi, underscoring Bihar’s pride in the young cricketer’s achievements.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s stellar performance in the Under-19 World Cup has not only brought acclaim to Bihar but also underscored the state’s increasing contribution to Indian cricket. The felicitation ceremony reflects the state government’s dedication to recognizing and nurturing young sporting talent, inspiring future athletes.
