Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary welcomed Vietnam President To Lam to Gayaji for a three-day visit, expressing optimism about enhancing bilateral relations. Choudhary, via social media, extended a warm welcome to President To Lam, highlighting the significance of the visit in strengthening ties between India and Vietnam. President To Lam, also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, is on his first visit to India since assuming office earlier this month.
President To Lam is scheduled for a ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on May 6, followed by discussions with Prime Minister Modi on various bilateral, regional, and global issues. Additionally, President Droupadi Murmu will hold a meeting with the visiting leader, with other leaders also expected to engage with President To Lam. The visit includes plans for President To Lam to visit Bodh Gaya and Mumbai, aiming to boost bilateral relations and foster new avenues for cooperation between India and Vietnam.
Prime Minister Modi had previously congratulated President To Lam on his election, expressing eagerness to deepen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations. The visit coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership agreement, signifying the enduring friendship and cooperation between India and Vietnam.
