The Bihar government recently implemented a significant administrative reshuffle involving senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers. Led by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, the General Administration Department issued a notification announcing new appointments, transfers, and additional responsibilities across various departments.
In this latest round of changes, Deepak Kumar Singh, a 1992-batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Governor. Additionally, Gopal Meena has been designated as the Secretary to the Governor, while B. Rajendra has been assigned the role of Additional Chief Secretary of the Monitoring Department.
The reshuffle also includes Kundan Kumar’s appointment as Secretary in the Home Department and Seema Tripathi’s additional charge as Secretary of the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. Notably, Sanjay Kumar Singh has been relieved of his duties in the General Administration Department.
Nilesh Ramchandra Deore has been named the Managing Director of the Bihar State Housing Board, and Inayat Khan has been appointed as Special Secretary in the Revenue and Land Reforms Department. Furthermore, Arvind Kumar Verma has been assigned as Special Secretary in the Cabinet Secretariat Department, and Rajiv Kumar Srivastava has been posted as Additional Secretary in the Finance Department.
This series of transfers is part of the Bihar government’s broader administrative restructuring efforts to enhance departmental coordination, reinforce governance, and expedite policy implementation. The reshuffle has generated significant discussions within political and bureaucratic circles in the state, following a similar reshuffle on May 15, where 18 IAS officers were transferred to different roles to strengthen governance and streamline administrative operations.
