The Government of Bihar honored cricketer Ishan Kishan with a cash prize of Rs 1 crore for his significant role in Team India’s victory at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Ishan, a Patna native, took time off from his IPL commitments to meet Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in the state capital. The felicitation event, attended by Kishan’s family members, saw the Chief Minister praising him as the pride of Patna and urging him to continue bringing glory to Bihar through his performances on the global stage.
Ishan Kishan, recognized as a brilliant batsman and a key member of India’s triumphant squad at the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, received the Rs 1 crore award for his remarkable contributions. Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary extended his sincere wishes for Ishan’s prosperous cricketing career. Kishan’s exceptional performance in the tournament included playing 9 matches, scoring 317 runs at an average of 35.22, and achieving a strike rate of 193, ranking him as the 4th highest run-scorer.
During the final against New Zealand, Ishan Kishan played a crucial innings, scoring 54 runs with 4 fours and 4 sixes, aiding India in posting a formidable total of 250. Ishan Kishan, hailing from Patna, faced challenges on his path to international cricket due to Bihar Cricket Association issues, eventually moving to Jharkhand to pursue his career. His cricket journey includes notable achievements, such as leading India’s squad in the 2016 Under-19 World Cup and delivering remarkable performances in domestic cricket, including a historic 273-run innings in the Ranji Trophy.
Making his mark in the Indian Premier League with standout seasons in 2020, 2022, and 2025, Ishan Kishan debuted internationally in 2021 against England, scoring 56 runs and earning the ‘Man of the Match’ accolade. Despite setbacks in 2023, including losing his BCCI contract, Kishan made a strong comeback in the 2025–26 domestic season, showcasing his resilience and talent on the field.
