Bihar Health Minister Nishant Kumar has introduced measures to enhance the efficiency of government hospitals in the state. This includes the installation of CCTV cameras in all state-run healthcare facilities and the addition of more ambulances on highways. The minister made these announcements following a public grievance session at the JD(U) state office in Patna.
Kumar mentioned that the CCTV cameras will be set up to monitor hospital activities continuously. These cameras will be linked to a control room in Patna, enabling officials to oversee staff attendance and hospital operations closely. Complaints about tardiness among doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff have been a common issue.
The Health Minister emphasized the importance of stocking all 504 required types of medicines in government hospitals. Currently, only about 350 varieties are available. He instructed officials to ensure a consistent supply of all essential medicines to prevent shortages and ensure patients receive the prescribed drugs without any hindrances.
Kumar also highlighted the necessity of maintaining crucial medical equipment. Special focus will be given to the upkeep of MRI machines, CT scanners, and other diagnostic tools. He stressed that prolonged non-functionality of equipment should not be tolerated, and steps will be taken to appoint trained technicians if needed.
To enhance emergency medical services, Kumar revealed plans to deploy 100 ambulances on national and state highways in Bihar. Additionally, the government aims to establish 11 level-3 trauma centers and 5 level-3 trauma hospitals to provide swift treatment to accident victims and enhance emergency healthcare services. The minister reiterated the government’s commitment to continuously monitor hospital performance to ensure quality service delivery.
