Siraj Ansari, a resident of Bihar’s Sheikhpura district, faced unemployment after losing his job in Delhi during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this setback, he utilized government support to establish a successful business, becoming an inspiration for many in his village. His enterprise, funded through the Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP), has not only transformed his life but has also created job opportunities for others in the community.
Having previously worked in Delhi for four years, Siraj returned to his hometown when job opportunities dwindled. Starting a small tent-house business initially, he struggled to sustain his family due to limited income. Upon learning about the PMEGP scheme, which provides financial aid and subsidies for microenterprises, he secured a loan of around ₹10 lakhs in his wife’s name and set up a thriving tent house warehouse near the Sheikhpura city’s New Bus Stand.
Expressing his gratitude towards the Prime Minister and the PMEGP scheme, Siraj encouraged fellow youth to explore entrepreneurial avenues supported by government initiatives rather than aimlessly seeking jobs. His success story serves as a beacon of hope for many aspiring entrepreneurs, showcasing the transformative power of determination and governmental assistance in fostering economic independence and growth.
