Patna, Aug 4 (IANS) Following the killing of Vimal Kumar, Executive Officer (EO) of the Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council, Purnea MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav visited the bereaved family at their residence on Gola Road in Patna on Tuesday.

He expressed condolences and assured the family that he would raise the issue of justice at the appropriate forums.

Vimal Kumar was allegedly beaten to death on August 2 while travelling to Patna in his official vehicle. The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Barun police station in Aurangabad district.

According to reports, unidentified assailants attacked the municipal officer with sticks, clubs and iron rods while he was travelling.

During his meeting with the family, Pappu Yadav strongly criticised the state government’s handling of law and order. He alleged that the killing of a government official demonstrated the deteriorating security situation in Bihar and said criminals were becoming increasingly emboldened.

He quoted the family as saying that Bihar was no longer a safe place to live.

“Vimal Kumar’s younger son told me, ‘They killed my father by torturing him; you must kill them too.’ This reflects the despair of the family. Bihar has become a place for mafia, corrupt officials, criminals and politicians,” Pappu Yadav said.

He demanded Rs 2 crore in compensation for the deceased officer’s family and questioned reports that the government was considering offering the widow a clerical-level government job.

He also demanded a CBI inquiry into the murder, arguing that the investigation should be conducted independently and at a high level.

He said that all individuals involved in the crime, including anyone from influential or white-collar backgrounds found to have played a role, should face strict legal action. Pappu Yadav added that he would raise the demand for a CBI investigation in Parliament.

He further demanded adequate security for the deceased officer’s family, compensation and a government job for an eligible dependent. He said protecting government employees and ordinary citizens was a fundamental responsibility of the state and urged authorities to take swift action against those responsible.

Meanwhile, Vimal Kumar’s wife has made serious allegations against Dehri MLA Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Sonu Singh, claiming that a demand for Rs 50 lakh had allegedly been made. The allegation has added another dimension to the murder case.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding Vimal Kumar’s murder and the claims made by the family.

Vimal Kumar, a native of Sherghati in Gaya district, was serving as Executive Officer of the Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council. He was allegedly attacked while travelling to Patna to meet his family.

The investigation into the murder is underway, and the allegations against the MLA and any other individuals will have to be established through the police investigation and subsequent legal proceedings.
