The Bihar Police have made progress in the investigation of the Rs 45 lakh jewellery shop robbery in Gurua Bazar by apprehending two criminals in an encounter in the Amas police station area of Gaya district. Recovered gold jewellery led to the arrests, with efforts ongoing to locate other members of the gang.
Following the robbery at a jewellery shop in Gurua Bazar on May 22, the police had been actively pursuing the suspects. Acting on intelligence suggesting the criminals were planning another crime, a special police team cordoned off an area near Banahi sand ghat.
When the suspects were cornered and asked to surrender, they allegedly fired at the police and tried to flee, resulting in a gunfire exchange. The captured individuals, including the prime suspect Sujit Chaudhary, sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to a hospital for treatment.
Chaudhary and his associate, during interrogation, admitted to their involvement in the robbery. The police, based on their information, recovered stolen gold ornaments. The authorities hailed this recovery as a significant breakthrough and are striving to arrest the remaining gang members.
The police believe that a total of five individuals were part of the robbery, with three managing to escape during the encounter. Raids are being conducted at suspected locations to capture the fugitives, as part of the Gaya Police’s broader crackdown on criminal activities in the district.
